Dara Torres Biography, Wiki, Age, Quick Facts, Photos –
Dara Torres should be a role model for all “Baby Boomers”! Torres is 41 years old and is competing at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in swimming. He dared to swim in the “youth race” – the 100 Meter Freestyle – at the 2008 Olympics.
If you’re unfamiliar with Torres, the mother of one of Florida’s children, here are some facts about her.
You may have also seen her on television in the Tae-Bo news or in some of her modeling photographs.
Dara Torres was the first American to compete in all five Olympic Games: 1984, 1988, 1992, 1992, 2000, and 2008. She competed in the Beijing Olympics in the 50-meter freestyle, the 4×100 medley relay, and the 4×100 freestyle relay, winning silver medals in all three events.
Dara Torres has won 12 Olympic medals (4 gold, 4 silver, 4 bronze), five of which she won at the Sydney Olympics in 2000, a feat made all the more remarkable by the fact that he was the oldest member of the USA Olympic swimming squad at thirty-three years old.
He also earned at least one medal in each of the five Olympic competitions, making him one of only a few Olympic competitors to win medals in all five sports.
She won gold in the 100-meter freestyle at the US Nationals in Indianapolis on August 1, 2007, at the age of 40 (only 15 months after giving birth to her first child).
Torres had won 14 games in a row. He then followed it up on August 4 by breaking his American record in the 50 meter freestyle twice, 26 years after he first set one when he was only 15 years old.
This is a quote that writes and remembers, and it should be the focus of a Dara Torres biography.
“Don’t put an age limit on your DREAMS.”
